When a trade goes wrong, a rule question needs an urgent answer, or a payout is delayed, customer support quality becomes the most important metric in prop trading. Ask Propfirm conducted independent support testing across 20 major prop firms in March 2026 to produce the most comprehensive support quality rankings available.

Testing Methodology

Our team submitted identical support queries across three channels (live chat, email, Discord/community) at three different times:

  • 9 AM EST (US market open)
  • 2 PM GMT (London session)
  • 11 PM EST (Asian session crossover)

We measured:

  1. First response time
  2. Resolution time (query fully answered)
  3. Accuracy of answer (graded on 10-point rubric)
  4. Agent professionalism score
  5. Channel availability

FTMO: The Support Benchmark

FTMO (ftmo.com) scored highest across nearly all metrics. Key advantages:

  • 24/7 live chat staffed by human agents (not bots)
  • Multilingual support in 15+ languages
  • Dedicated payout support team with same-day resolution SLA
  • Knowledge base with 400+ articles covering rule edge cases

The only area where FTMO scored below the top tier: Discord community engagement — the firm maintains a relatively formal relationship with community platforms compared to US-based firms.

Topstep: Best US Business Hours Support

Topstep (topstep.com) ranked second, with particularly strong support during US trading hours. Their futures expertise shows in support quality — agents could answer complex trailing drawdown and contract rollover questions accurately and quickly.

Limitation: Asian session support (after 8 PM EST) was notably slower, with some queries waiting 45+ minutes for live chat response.

The Discord-Only Problem

Several firms (MyFundedFX, Blue Guardian, Goat Funded Trader) rely primarily on Discord for support rather than traditional live chat or email systems. While Discord can be fast, it introduces:

  • Inconsistent response times based on volunteer moderator availability
  • No ticket tracking or SLA guarantees
  • Privacy concerns (public channels vs. DMs)

For traders with urgent account issues, Discord-only support is a structural risk.

What Good Support Looks Like During Emergencies

The most critical test scenario: a trader believes their account was incorrectly terminated. In our testing:

  • FTMO resolved account review disputes within 2 hours with full documentation
  • Topstep took 4–6 hours but provided detailed reasoning
  • Several mid-tier firms took 24+ hours and provided vague explanations

Dr. Algo's Assessment

Customer support is an underweighted factor in prop firm selection. A firm with a slightly worse challenge structure but excellent support is often a better overall experience than one with great terms but terrible responsiveness.
